The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade has announced the commencement of the payment of N30,000 stipends to recipients of the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO) in a bid to lessen the impact of the coronavirus on the state’s poor residents.
National Sportslink learned that the cash handouts initiative is supported by the World Bank.
According to the Commissioner for International Development Cooperation in Cross River, Inyang Asibong, at the flagship distribution of palliatives in the Akampa Local Government Area of the state, said the disbursement of relief materials and money is aimed at the vulnerable in the states.
Asibong added that the Cross River State Government had approved the handing out of cash to residents who actively participate in community services.
Recently, the governor of the state, Ben Ayade, had mandated the wearing of face masks, initiating the ‘no mask no movement’ directive.
