Collierville Kroger shooting: A Gunman left one dead and 12 others injured “before
killing himself” at a grocery store this afternoon.
It’s unclear if the incident took place outside or inside the supermarket.
At a press conference, Collierville
people shot, and one person died. At least 12 people were transported to the hospital,
and the suspected shooter is deceased after potentially shooting himself, Lane said.
“I’ve been involved in this for 34 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” Lane
said, calling it “the most horrific event that’s happened in Collierville history.”
A lockdown was briefly put in place at Collierville High, but authorities lifted it after
they arrived on the scene.
A dispatcher was heard on a scanner alerting someone to an active shooter at the
grocery store, however, it is not clear if these reports were true.
A second scanner heard someone say that a suspect was in custody, but this has also
not been confirmed to be linked to the Kroger incident.
A third update said that a firefighter was being transported to a hospital. It is unclear
whether they were hurt in the reported incident.
Reporters on the scene claimed that they saw two medical helicopters touch down
outside of the store.
Footage showed a large police presence, most of which had their flashing lights on.
There is no word on if there are any casualties.
Collierville High School was sheltering in place following the reports of an off-
campus active shooter.
However, this was lifted and classes were dismissed as normal just after 2 pm local time
