National Sportslink understands that on Sunday night Ronaldo was substituted in the 55th minute, with Juve drawing 0-0, which was the second time in a week he’d been taken off early with the game still in the balance.
It is not entirely clear if the Portugal international left the stadium straight away, but pundit Antonio Cassano has explained that he nearly got in trouble for that himself as a player.
But news making a round revealed that Ronaldo was not happy with Maurizio Sarri’s decision to sub him off, with the match poised at 0-0 and with more than half an hour to go. He walked straight down the tunnel and reportedly left the stadium in the 87th minute and according to Antonio Cassano that could land Ronaldo in trouble.
Talking to Italian television show Tiki-Taka, via AS, Cassano explained how, as a Roma player, he left a game early and had to return as he could be banned for missing a drugs test, saying, “Did he leave before the end of the game? You can’t do that because there is an anti-doping control. I had to go back to the stadium urgently to avoid a two-year ban”.
For the second time in a week, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was replaced with the team drawing and they went on to win the match.
In midweek Douglas Costa scored an injury-time winner against Lokomotiv Moscow, though the Brazilian didn’t come on for Ronaldo.
On Sunday Dybala did come on for the former Real Madrid forward and it was his goal that settled the match and put the Old Lady back on top of Serie A, ahead of rivals Inter.
After the match Sarri refused to confirm if the 34-year-old had left the game early, saying, “Disrespectful to his teammates? As I said, I don’t know. “If it’s true that he left before the end it is a problem to be resolved with his teammates.”
Without confirmation Ronaldo left early there is no way of knowing if he’s fallen foul of drugs testing rules, and he may have informed authorities and taken a test before leaving the Allianz Arena.
