Tammy Abraham has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the
upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Hungary.
The 24-year-old swapped the Premier League for Serie A in the summer as he left
Chelsea to join up with former Blues boss Jose Mourinho in Italy in a deal worth
£34million.
And the decision to leave Chelsea has paid off for Abraham as he has hit the ground
running at Roma.
Abraham has scored four goals and contributed two assists for the Serie A
club, who have made him central to their plans under manager Jose Mourinho.

Abraham has made 10 appearances since his transfer to the Italian capital,
establishing himself as the first-choice frontman for a side that currently sits fourth
in the league table. Roma’s bet on Abraham appears to be paying off, with the forward
now returning to the international frame. It is the first time he has been picked by
Southgate since November 2020. He is not thought to be replacing anyone in the
squad. Abraham produced another good display for Roma on Sunday as they beat
Empoli 2-0. He hit the bar with an effort from the edge of the box. The rebound then
fell to Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored Roma’s second goal of the game.
