Jennifer Lawrence has been pictured with her baby bump on display for the first time
as news emerged she is expecting her first child with husband Cooke Maroney.
The actress, 31, showed off her blossoming belly during a stroll through New York
City on Wednesday.
The sighting comes as a representative for the actress confirmed her pregnancy with
Lawrence tied the knot with Cooke, an art gallery director, in 2019 after more than a
year of dating.
The actress also wore her blonde tresses down in loose waves and propped a pair of
sunglasses over her eyes.
Lawrence appeared content as she strolled down the street, before eventually
stopping for an alfresco meal with her friend at Fanelli’s Cafe.
The duo enjoyed a scrumptious meal outside, where Jennifer feasted on fried chicken,
a bowl of tomato soup, and grilled cheese.
A plate of French fries sat in between the women.
It wasn’t long ago insiders claimed Jennifer and her husband were already talking
about starting a family together.
‘They both want children and have been discussing starting a family,’ a source told ET
Online back in 2019.
Their families truly believe they are meant to be; his family loves her family and vice
versa, so their parents are excited. Their parents get along so well and are all looking
forward to big family get-togethers.’
Lawrence and Cooke tied the knot in 2019 at the Belcourt of Newport in Rhode Island
with the likes of Adele, Cameron Diaz, and Emma Stone in attendance.
Their wedding had 150 guests, including Kris Jenner and her boyfriend Corey Gamble,
Amy Schumer, Emma Stone, and Ashley Olsen.
For her rehearsal dinner, Jennifer and Cooke hosted a clambake on Rose Island under
a white tent, with Cameron Diaz, Sienna Miller, Joel Madden, and Nicole Richie seen
Jennifer and Cooke had their engagement party in New York in mid-May, three
months after confirming their engagement.
The star wore a plunging $2,300 L. Wells dress with nude Casadei shoes, adding a
Roger Vivier tote and Fred Leighton jewels.
The actress was first linked to Cooke after they were introduced by mutual friends in
2018, and by February 2019, the blonde beauty was spotted wearing an engagement
‘Well, he’s just the best person I’ve ever met in my whole life. It was a very, very easy
decision,’ she told Entertainment Tonight after accepting his proposal.
‘He really is, and he gets better,’ the actress went on.
Cooke works at New York’s Gladstone Gallery, which represents artists including Lena
Dunham’s dad, Carroll Dunham, as well as Richard Prince, Anish Kapoor, and Bjork’s
ex, Matthew Barney.
He is known on the art party scene and previously worked at the prestigious Gagosian
While he is now very much part of the New York social scene, Cooke, like his new
fianceé grew up in the countryside, spending his childhood on his parent’s farm in
Maroney’s father was an art dealer in Manhattan and previously served as the Head of
American Paintings at Christie’s before the family decided to move to the country.
While neither Jennifer nor Cooke have spoken publicly about their relationship,
insiders have gushed about their chemistry, with a source telling People in 2018: ‘She
is smiling as I have never seen her do with any of her previous boyfriends’.
For Jennifer, the romance began just months after she split from Mother! director
Darren Aronofsky, 49, in November 2017 after dating for about a year.
It has been claimed that their age gap caused a problem in their romance, as well as
Jennifer admitting they were never able to switch off from talking about work.
