And the sickening break was picked up by the cage-side microphones.
Fans watching the fight around the world were left stunned, with one tweeting:
“It’s insane how mundane his reaction is to this. “He got up and hugged Muniz
afterwards. Classy guy and a savage.”
Another said: “S**t crazy didn’t believe it at first WOW.”
And another said: “Jacare Souza is an absolute savage! Arm snapped in half and he doesn’t
even blink. “The dude is incredibly tough.”
One remarked: “Sounds like a stick breaking when someone steps on it.”
Post-fight x-rays revealed Jacare’s right humerus had been snapped in two.
The 41-year-old – who is now on a four-fight losing streak – is currently in hospital
Jacare updated his fans on Sunday night, saying: “Hey, what’s up everybody? I’m in the
hospital right now. “So, I broke my arm and I have surgery tomorrow.
“Thanks, UFC for all the support and thanks to everyone for rooting for me.
“So I think everything is going to be fine. Thank you.”
In his post-fight interview, Muniz said of the broken arm: “I heard it snap.
“I let go not only out of respect but I’m from jiu-jitsu, I knew it could hurt him even
more if I didn’t let go.
“I’m a fan of Jacare since I was a kid. He’s my idol. I hope he’s good.
“I deserve a top 15 now, I’m here to stay.”
