Oxford vs Wigan suspended
Oxford’s League One clash against Wigan has been suspended due to a floodlight fire at the Kassam Stadium.
The ground was evacuated at half-time with the score at 0-0. The match had already been delayed from
Saturday when it could not go ahead due to a frozen pitch.
The players and staff were evacuated from the stadium while they waited for the fire brigade to arrive.
Oxford kept fans up to date with events on their Twitter account and wrote:
There’s a fire in the floodlights so the second half will be delayed until the fire brigade arrive.
“The stadium is being evacuated. We will update you when we know more. Got to run…”
Around 30 minutes after confirming the fire, Oxford confirmed the issue was resolved with the second
half to commence at 17:45.
