Rapper Silento has been arrested and charged with the murder of his cousin. the DeKalb County Police
Department confirmed that Silento, real name Richard Lamar Hawk, was arrested on 1 February after his cousin,
Frederick Rooks was found shot dead on 21 January.
The 23-year-old was arrested on Monday for the killing of Frederick Rooks, according to the in the
DeKalb County Police Department in the US state of Georgia
Rooks, 34, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on January 21 and died from his injuries.
He’s currently being held in DeKalb County Jail and is charged with murder.
NSL learned that Silento’s management has been contacted for a statement, but they are yet to respond.
Shortly before his arrest, he shared a request on his Instagram story inviting his 494,000 followers to
send him money via CashApp for “selfies, videos, and shoutouts”.
The one-hit-wonder shot to fame with Watch Me in 2015, but it was his only hit single.
The video has been watched more than 1.7 billion times on YouTube.
Hawk has had two run-ins with the law in recent months. In October, he was reportedly arrested
for reckless driving when he was spotted speeding at 143mph in a 65mph zone. Meanwhile,
in September, the hip-hop star was charged with assault after allegedly attacking two strangers with a hatchet
in Los Angeles.
