United face the possibility of a £33m combined fine if they agree to meet hackers’ ransom demands
Manchester United could be fined up to £15m if they agree to meet the ransom demands of cyber hackers
who recently attacked the club’s systems, according to the Daily Mail.

the cybercriminals demand ‘millions of pounds’ from the Red Devils if they want to protect their sensitive data
and customer information.
If United pay the hackers, however, they face a fine of £15m as the club are listed on the New York Stock
Exchange and thus subject to the US law.
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control has recently warned that paying a ransom demand “may embolden
cyber actors to engage in future attacks”.
What’s more, the UK Information Commissioner’s Office could fine United a further £18m in case of breach of the
data protection of the club’s fans, the report adds
