Barcelona accepts to join European Super League
Outgoing FC Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu confirms the club have accepted to join the European
Super League, Josep Maria Bartomeu says the club have accepted an invitation to play in a new
European Super League. It follows on from the bombshell news on Tuesday
that Bartomeu and his entire board of directors have resigned from their positions.
Bartomeu who has handed in his resignation – insisted it will guarantee the ‘future financial sustainability’
of the club.

Barcelona accepts to join the European Super League, Manchester United and Liverpool are in talks with
Fifa about forming a European Premier League made up of 18 teams.
That idea would have seen the Premier League reduced from 20 to 18 teams and the League Cup and Community
Shield scrapped.
And as he waved farewell to Barcelona, Bartomeu revealed the club have agreed to take part.
The 57-year-old said: “I can announce some extraordinary news.
“Yesterday we accepted a proposal to participate in a future European Super League, which would guarantee the
future financial sustainability of the club. “And we have accepted the future Club World Cup format.”
